Tactical Combat Casualty Care + Individual First Aid Kit

Medical Training

You are at 100% of your own emergencies. If you have blood in your body and air in your lungs, you need to know the basics of TCCC.

Responder Medical Training (TECC/TCCC)

Iron Oak Aviation in affiliation with Refuge Medical Training offers Responder programs adapted from Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) / Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) for the civilian world, giving hunters, range safety officers, outdoorsmen, and everyday citizens the tools to handle trauma when it matters most.

This isn’t just boardroom theory. Training is scenario-based and built around the direct application of lifesaving techniques under stress. You’ll practice bleeding control, airway management, and casualty evacuation in realistic, high-pressure situations — so when emergencies happen in the field, on the road, or even at home, your response is second nature.

With an emphasis on Stop The Bleed and immediate trauma response, you’ll leave prepared to bridge the gap and buy time until professional help arrives and elevated the patient to a higher level of care.

Iron Oak proudly offers basics of TCCC/S-MARCHE introductory training for new students.

The purpose of the Refuge Responder class is to train the individual on the trauma medicine tactics to treat arterial bleeding, gunshot wounds, sucking chest wounds, lacerations, other common traumatic injuries and common preparedness principles. This will be achieved through the application of learned skills from the classroom setting, inside of Scenario Based Training, based on realistic possible events.

The use of the following medical devices/items will be addressed: application of a CAT tourniquet, use of an Emergency Trauma Dressing (ETD), application of chest seals, use of triangular bandages, use of the SWAT-T tourniquet, wound packing with compressed gauze, appropriate use of clotting agents, and more.

Students will be responsible for their own meals and drinks. Cost of the class includes a Refuge Medical Trainer Kit, which will be retained by the student , and a MARCH-E Algorithm reference book. This allows the student to train their friends and loved ones with the same tactics and techniques after the class is completed.

This is a highly active and energized class; participants should be able to move unassisted and be capable of lifting a reasonable amount of weight. This class is scenario driven and instructors may trigger physiological responses with the use of external stressors. It is highly recommended that long sleeves, pants and appropriate footwear be worn.

This training is emergency response and supplemental to OHS First Aid Training. This is not a replacement for employment or workplace First Aid required Training.

Please note that this course involves loud noises. All participants should bring a change of clothes as there is potential for exposure to water, mud, dirt, simulated blood, tears, and sweat.

While primarily focused on lessons learned in military conflicts, the principles of TCCC remain highly applicable to motor vehicle accidents, knife injuries, dog attacks or negligent discharge at a shooting range.

And as with all emergency procedures, knowledge of TCCC helps prevent incidents and accidents by bringing heightened awareness to the importance of general safety and bleeding control.
